Plans & billing

OnGravy pricing has two moving parts: a monthly plan that fits who you are, and a few metered add-ons that only apply when you go beyond the generous bundled amounts. This chapter explains both, and the one distinction that trips people up — the difference between a business you own and a client whose books you keep.

The plans

A business you own vs a client you keep books for

This is the single most important distinction in OnGravy billing:

  • A business you own is your own shop, firm or company. If you run several of your own — a chain of outlets, or a couple of companies — each one after the first adds ₹599/mo on the Business Owner plan.
  • A client is someone else’s business whose books you keep as their accountant. Taking on clients is a CA activity — it needs a CA plan (Tax Practitioner or Individual CA).

So the Business Owner (₹799) and NRI plans are own-books only: you can add more of your own businesses, but you cannot act as an accountant for other people. The moment you want to manage a client’s books, OnGravy will ask you to move to a CA plan — this is enforced when you send or accept a client invite, not just shown as a note. If you only ever want CA tools for your own business, that stays included on your current plan at no extra cost.

Metered add-ons — you only pay for what you take on

Beyond the bundled few, growth is metered per active entity rather than forcing a plan jump:

Add-onRateApplies to
Additional business you own₹599/mo eachBusiness Owner (beyond the first)
Additional active client₹299/mo eachTax Practitioner (beyond 3), Individual CA (beyond 5)

There is no hard capon the CA plans — add as many clients as you take on and you only pay for the ones beyond the bundled few. A client counts as “active” when there is real activity on their books in the period.

Usage packs — the three real-cost features

Invoices, ledgers, reports and GST prep are uncapped on every paid plan. Only three features carry a genuine per-use cost, so each plan bundles a generous monthly amount of each; cross it and your accounting keeps working — you just top up with a pack:

  • e-invoice IRNs — each invoice registered with the government IRP.
  • AI document scans — OCR on bills/receipts dropped into the Smart inbox.
  • WhatsApp business messages — outbound messages on the WhatsApp channel.

Your bundled monthly amounts scale with your plan (see the pricing page). Core bookkeeping is never locked behind a pack.

Trial, switching & refunds

  • Switching plans.Upgrade takes effect instantly; a downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You can’t downgrade to a plan that’s too small for the clients you already hold — OnGravy tells you the minimum plan that fits.
  • Staff & accountants don’t pay separately.Accounts staff invited by an owner log in under the owner’s subscription — see Teams & permissions. If the owner’s subscription lapses, staff can’t log in until it’s renewed.
  • Payment methods. UPI, cards and net banking via Razorpay.
  • Refunds. 30-day full refund on your first paid month — see the Refund Policy.

How the charge is calculated

Your monthly total is the plan base plus any metered add-ons: for a business owner it’s ₹799 + ₹599 × (extra owned businesses); for a CA it’s base + ₹299 × (active clients beyond the bundle). The number you see on your billing screen is exactly this calculation, so there are never surprise line items — what you add is what you pay.
